Why are the UnderShield wings layered?
The layered design enhances radioprotective coverage specifically in the axillary region, where standard lead vests often leave gaps. This layered design moves with you, allowing full range of motion.
What is the radioprotective material in the UnderShield?
The layered wings of the UnderShield™ use lightweight, high-performance lead-equivalent materials that meet or exceed industry standards for radiation attenuation. The thickness of each flap is .25 mm, providing .5mm protection where overlapped.
Does the UnderShield protect better than standard lead vests?
Studies have shown that standard vests often leave the axilla and UOQ exposed. The UnderShield is meant to be an accessory piece to standard aprons and vests to significantly reduce radiation exposure in these vulnerable areas.
If the UnderShield is an extra layer under the apron, it must be warmer?
Actually, no! The UnderShield is made with exclusive brrr° cooling technology built into the fabric, lowering skin temperature up to 3° F — providing a comfortable and cool sensation all day long.
Is the UnderShield comfortable?
Absolutely. It's designed to be worn under your existing lead without restricting movement. The axillary supplement is less bulky than full sleeves, offering protection without compromising dexterity.
Can I wear the UnderShield with any lead vest or apron?

Can the UnderShield be cleaned?
Yes, the vest itself is machine washable on delicate cycle with mild detergent. Use cold water and hang to dry. Remove the wings prior to wash. Wings can be cleaned with INFAB Scrubbles solution.
